Peter Jones works at Rogue Studios, Manchester, England, making drawings and 3D objects. His inspiration comes from the beautiful forms of nature as well as the invisible lines implied by certain modern technologies such as loudspeakers, cameras, projectors and radios. Relationships between drawn objects have always been a focus in the work and in 2001, the drawings started to be made on the computer, resulting in a world of interconnected drawings. In 2002, whilst studying at John Moores University, Liverpool, on an MA programme in Multimedia Arts, he developed a system that may help to facilitate artistic collaborations. In 2003, experimentation with drawings as pattern, using animated GIFs and simple HTML code, occurred. Follow-on experiments using an ink drawing and a photo of the artist's studio window-sill are interesting when you resize your browser window to experiment with different tile arrangements). This playing around continues with guppy and interval. More objects from the studio used in combination have resulted in Band. This led to thinking about movement. Here's an experiment with dots. There's a mixture of animated drawings here and here. In contrast to these digital experiments, here are some recent ink drawings on Bockingford 140lb watercolour paper. They measure about twelve inches across. Here is a more varied collection of ink drawings.
