Clare Williams is a textile illustrator who has travelled widely collecting ephemera and finding subject matter for her appliqued iconographic images. She produces images through hand-dying and carefully stiching fabric pieces. She often produces multiple images. The images are as at home on the pages of a children's storybook as they are on the gallery wall. Clare is interested in the way that children see things: "Sometimes I take directly from children's drawings. I am interested in their directness, feeling of truth and simplicity.
